BIG, I know, but I had to fit all of them on there and not have it look like a bunch of stupid floating heads. You'll live.
I sketched these a month or two ago and just now got around to coloring them (cheaply and crappily, I might add) and posting them up.
These are all 10 members of the Arcubed Brotherhood, the leaders of the guild that Renford and Heme belong to. The reason I just did heads and faces is because they cloak themselves completely in black-- when they are dressed you would only be able to see their faces and possibly their bangs. Members tend to dye their hair different colors to help ensure they are addressed properly by the Hunters. Yea, "the guy with the bright red hair" would be a lot easier to remember than by his facial features and his eye color if he shared the same color hair with 3 other members.
While the 10 members are not considered to be ranked above each other by the Hunters, they are amongst themselves. There are 10 seats, and what seat you sit in gives you a slightly higher 'rank' amongst the others, based on how much longer than them you've been in the Brotherhood. For example, Tonsor sits in seat 1. Therefore he has been in the Brotherhood the longest and holds a lot more pull on decisions than Quiest who sits in seat 9. When a member passes away everyone behind him moves up a seat. There are hundreds of traditions amongst them based on their rank and their honor.
When they become members of the Brotherhood they are named with words based on Latin. Some of them have been slightly changed to be more pleasing as far as a name would go. Hunters who have something special about them are usually chosen--very rarely does a cold blooded killer make the Brotherhood. A sense of humanity and purity is needed to tend to the matters that face them on a daily basis.
Seat One: Tonsor
Tonsor has been in the Brotherhood the longest. His father was in the Brotherhood at one time as well as his grandfather before that. He was born and raised on the island, and is one of only a handfull of Hunters to have such a legacy, which earns him a tremendous amount of respect.
Seat Two: Satus
If Alveolus was to have a rival it would be Satus. Satus is very strict with the teachings and beliefs of the Brotherhood, and disapproves of Alveolus choosing to break the rules and bonds as he has with Renford. Satus' father was a very strong Hunter but due to some controversey he never made it to the Brotherhood. Satus feels he has avenged his father's wrongful rejection by rising to seat two.
Seat Three: Alveolus
Our beloved Alveolus. He is the most controversial member of the Brotherhood. He tends to keep to himself and make choices on his own rather than conversing with the other members. His decision to raise young Renford when he was discovered instead of killing the boy almost lead to him being exiled from the Guild, but his smooth talking kept him on good terms. That, and Renford's fast ascend to the top.
Seat Four: Rejio
Rejio is the most popular member of the Brotherhood, at least with the female Hunters. When he was a Hunter he was very honorable about his deeds, using more 'humane' methods of killing than his comrades. When he's not attending to other matters, he spends a lot of time wandering around the island attending to the women and children.
Seat Five: Fabre
Fabre has a family, which alienates him slightly from the Brotherhood. His son is currently a Level 2 Hunter, and Fabre wants him to eventually join the Brotherhood. Contact between father and son is almost nonexistant, however, as the Brotherhood lives in a compound separated from the Hunters and the rest of the inhabitants of the island except for meetings and to deal with conflicts that may arise.
Seat Six: Divello
Divello devotes his time to island improvements. He heads the construction of housing, roads, and the repairs of them afterwards. His devotion to the inhabitants make him popular like Rejio, and at times the two of them will work together on projects for humanity.
Seat Seven: Prohe
Prohe is the only member on the Brotherhood at the moment to have been promoted due to his sense of killing. He was virtually unstoppable as a Hunter and never lost a catch in his tenure. He teaches many classes to the low-level Hunters, training them with his idealogy about Hunting.
Seat Eight: Calix
Calix is very opinionated, but only when anyone above seat 5 is not around. He spends the majoirty of his time with Quiest, leaving the other members to whisper behind their backs. Calix is very quick to denounce any rumors, but not so quick to make his relationship with Quiest less...obvious.
Seat Nine: Quiest
Quiest is very shy and quiet, and hardly voices an opposition to the majority feeling of the Guild. He usually pals-around with Calix, and there has been speculation of the two of them being 'more than Brothers' but nothing has ever been proven that they are more than friends.
Seat Ten: Ictus
The youngest member of the Brotherhood, Ictus hasn't been there very long. He was promoted to the Brotherhood when the previous occupant of seat one passed away. There was talk of this seat going to Renford, but Renford showed no interest in being a member. Ictus knows this is the only reason he was chosen, and because of this holds some resentment towards Renford for making him the second choice.
Wow, that was long. Anyway, most of these are bit-part characters, but at least now they have personality and faces!
